
Keeping Your Class 100 Cleanroom Actually Clean
When you’re working in a Class 100 environment, heat is a tricky beast. It’s not just about getting the temperature right. It’s about making sure you aren’t accidentally dumping chemicals or tiny bits of dust onto your wafers or medical polymers. Most standard heaters are a nightmare here. They off-gas or pump out ozone, and in a high-purity setup, that’s a disaster. That’s why we use high-purity synthetic quartz infrared lamps. They’re built specifically to keep the ozone out of the equation.
The deal with ozone
Here is how it works: ozone happens when short-wave UV hits the oxygen in your air. To stop that from happening, we use quartz envelopes that act like a filter, blocking those specific UV wavelengths. We stick with high-purity silica quartz because it’s tough. It doesn’t flake or degrade, even when you’re cranking the heat up and down all day. You get a clean heat source that doesn’t shed particles into your production zone. Simple as that.
Heat, power, and the “soak”
We build these lamps to handle a lot of thermal density. Because we use synthetic quartz, they can run hotter without warping—something you’ll see pretty quickly with cheaper glass. But a word of caution: watch your power density. These lamps ramp up fast. Really fast. But because you’re packing so much wattage into a small space, you have to make sure your housing is vented. If you skimp on the cooling, you’ll end up with “heat soak,” where the surrounding fixtures start overheating. Nobody wants that.
Getting them installed
We didn’t want to overcomplicate the mechanical side of things. We use standard industrial connectors to keep the electrical fit tight. This prevents arcing, which is just a fancy way of saying it stops metallic sparks from flying into your clean air. For most of you, these are just drop-in replacements for your existing curing or drying lines. Just double-check that your power supply matches the voltage. If it’s off, you’ll burn out the filament way too soon. We handle the raw output and the material purity so you can keep your ISO certification and actually sleep at night.
